Discover Girlguiding

We are 1st Barwick Guides and we meet in the historic village of Barwick in Elmet near Leeds

Welcome to 1st Barwick Guides

We run, slide, climb, row, walk, paddle, skip and whizz our way through challenging activities. We laugh all the way and encourage each other to keep on going, ignore the mud on our faces, and never mind which of us capsizes the canoe or stumbles on the slack line.

Volunteers are with girls every (slippery) step of the way. Through leading camps, trips and our unit meetings, and taking girls to our activity centres and girl-only festivals – they give girls opportunities to try all sorts of activities.

Here is just a selection of the activities you could try with us, the stories of girls who already have, and a taste of the exciting events and trips 1st Barwick Guides have planned for the future.

So why not come and join us ?

You will be sure of a warm welcome from our Guides and Leaders, and be able to take part in the fun activities and challenges that we have planned for the year.

Just click on the contact link above and get in touch.

50+ years young..

We have been meeting in Barwick for more than 50 years! For our 50th anniversary we designed this colourful badge featuring the coloured bands from Barwick's world famous maypole on our birthday candle.

We get active..

Barwick Guides, Brownies and Rainbows have recently been to the Waddow Hall Activity Centre thanks to another generous grant from the Barwick in Elmet & Scholes Community fund
